Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09/19/2026

Seafarers Tax is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

Seafarers Tax (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides tax, accounting and payroll services to seafarers, offshore professionals and maritime businesses. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the “data controller” of the personal information you provide to us.

  • Trading name: Seafarers Tax, a trading name of Your Tax Office Ltd.
  • Registered office: Eastway Enterprise Centre, 7 Paynes Park, Hitchin, SG5 1EH
  • Company number: 10750545
  • Contact: jeanette.dawes@binksoverseas.com · +44 (0) 1462 514 527

2. What information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: Name, email address, telephone number and postal address.
  • Enquiry information: The details you give us through our contact form or in correspondence — including the type of work you do and the support you're looking for.
  • Client information: Where you become a client, the information we need to provide our services — which may include financial details, income and employment information, tax references, identification documents and records relating to your work at sea.
  • Technical data: Basic information collected automatically when you use our website, such as IP address and browsing activity, through cookies (see section 8).

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and provide the information you request.
  • Provide our tax, accounting and payroll services.
  • Meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations, including anti-money-laundering and record-keeping requirements.
  • Communicate with you about your matters and, where you've agreed, send relevant updates.
  • Maintain and improve our website and services.

4. Our lawful basis for using it

Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on:

  • Consent: When you contact us through the website or ask us to respond to an enquiry.
  • Performance of a contract: When we provide our services to you as a client.
  • Legal obligation: Where we must keep records or report information to meet legal and regulatory requirements, such as those set by HMRC.
  • Legitimate interests: To run and improve our business, where doing so does not override your rights.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it, only where necessary, with:

  • HMRC and other regulatory or government bodies, where required to deliver our services or meet legal obligations.
  • Professional advisers and partners who help us provide our services (for example accountants, payroll providers, and our IT, hosting and software providers), under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms.
  • Third parties where we are required to do so by law.

If you'd like a specific list of the providers we use, please contact us.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. For client records, we generally retain information for six years after our work for you ends, in line with tax and professional requirements. (confirm this is the firm's standard retention period)

7. Keeping your information secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Access to your information is limited to those who need it to do their work, and we use secure systems to store and transmit data.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information at all times.

8. Cookies

Our website may use cookies — small files stored on your device — to help the site work and to understand how it is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we will ask for your consent to non-essential cookies.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your information, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it.
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information.
  • Request that we transfer your information to another provider, where applicable.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at jeanette.dawes@binksoverseas.com . You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk .

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website, with the “last updated” date shown at the top.
